ISLAMABAD: Pakistan expressed serious concerns over the US drone strike in North Waziristan on Wednesday morning that killed at least 4 people, saying drone strikes violate principles of national sovereignty and international laws.

In a statement issued on Wednesday‚ Foreign Office spokesman pointed out that Pakistan has consistently maintained that the drone strikes are counter-productive and entail loss of innocent civilian lives.

It said that drone strikes also have human rights and humanitarian implications and violate the principles of national sovereignty‚ territorial integrity and international laws.

A foreign news agency claimed that top Pakistani Taliban commander Wali-ur-Rehman was killed in the drone strike; however this has been denied by the Taliban.
