Abducted Chinese nationals Li Zang Hing and Ming Leassi came on business visa instead of working visa

Islamabad, Pakistan: The two Chinese nationals Li Zang Hing and Ming Leassi who were abducted from Quetta came on business visas but were teaching illegally.

Sources claim that Li Zang Hing and Ming Leassi were teaching in Jinnah Town Quetta without getting any formal approval from authorities and without having working visas while provincial authorities of Baluchistan had no detail information with whom they were living in Quetta.

Li Zang Hing and Ming Leassi who were abducted on May 24, 2017 were not covered by security networking of Quetta Police because they did not properly registered themselves with authorities for teaching assignment in Jinnah Town Quetta, claim sources. Security agencies had no information about their teaching assignments and about their acquaintances in Quetta.

These information were revealed in a briefing given to Interior Minister Ch Nisar by law enforcing agencies here today.

According to sources, Interior Minister Ch Nisar was perturbed to get details about the circumstances in which Chances national were abducted and directed authorities to contact Pakistani Embassy in China for getting information how could long stay business visas were granted to abducted nationals without having details where and with whom they would live for such long time of over six months.

Meanwhile, an official statement was released after the meeting of Interior Minister Ch Nisar with law enforcing agencies viewing the case of abduction of Chinese citizens.

Statement says that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has directed the ministry to review, regulate and streamline the process of issuing visas to Chinese nationals in future.

Interior Minister Chaudhry directed officials of Interior Ministry to maintain a databank of Chinese nationals arriving and staying in Pakistan with addresses where they are and would stay and information about persons/organisations who invite them and also for what reason Chinese citizens are being invited if they come on business or working visas.

He directed that all these information must be shared with respective district governments and provinces where Chinese citizens are working/ living.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar was of the that ensuring the security of foreign nationals is a shared responsibility and district government, provinces and federal government should collectively work to ensure security of foreigners.

“Where the government makes every effort to provide security to foreigners, the visiting foreign nationals are equally bound to abide by the terms and conditions of their visas and inform local authorities about their movements and activities,” maintained Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar.

Minister said that it is (was) highly unfortunate that a misuse of the terms of business visa contributed to the unfortunate incident of the abduction of the two innocent Chinese.
