Pakistan condemns recent US drone attack, calls strikes unnecessary

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Offices on Thursday termed the US drone strikes in Pakistani territory unnecessary as Pakistan is already taking decisive action against the terrorist elements.

In her weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasneem Aslam strongly condemned the recent US drone attack in South Waziristan.

“Pakistan has consistently maintained that these strikes amount to violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that the US drones strikes in the tribal areas are unnecessary and should be stopped.

Earlier in the day, a US drone fired two missiles at a compound in the Birmal tehsil of South Waziristan, killing at least four militants including a foreigner and injuring several others.
