Over 10,000 terror suspects arrested across country

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Over 10,000 terror suspects have been arrested in around 15,000 operations conducted across the country as part of the implementation of anti-terror national action plan (NAP).

   

The operations which were carried out across the country include 9413 in Punjab, 1577 in Sindh, 2724 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 39 in Balochistan, 336 in Islamabad, 720 in Azad Kashmir, 29 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 56 in the federally administrated tribal areas (FATA), according to the report on latest statistics on the NAP presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The report said that 1934 arrests were made in Punjab, 1533 in Sindh, 460 in Balochistan, 6038 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 505 in Islamabad, 129 in FATA and 10 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

It said that 540 cases were registered against making hate speeches and 2035 arrests were made on misuse of loudspeaker.

The report on NAP implementation said that over 3000 Afghan refugees have been repatriated since December 24 last year.

It said that over 1000 operations were carried out on intelligence report while action was taken on 161 calls received on 1717.

In addition, the report said that 24 people have been arrested in 18 cases of illegal transfer of funds. It added that 25.6 million mobile connections have so far been verified.
