PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Twin blasts struck a crowded market in the Capital of Kurram agency Parachinar on Friday, causing deaths of at least 50 persons and injuries to further around 200.
Political sources said that two back-to-back blasts took place in Akbar Khan Saray Market, adding that a large number of people were busy in shopping for Eid-ul-Fitr when the explosions ripped through the market.
They further said that more deaths were not ruled out as a result of twin blasts.
Meanwhile, the dead bodies and injuries were shifted to Headquarter Hospital Parachinar where a number of injured persons were in critical condition.
Political sources said that arrangements were being made to shift critically injured persons to Peshawar.
The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and security forces cordoned off the area and started search to ascertain the cause of tragic incident.
The member of National Assembly Sajid Hussain Tori said that there was a suicide blast in Parachinar.
In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that two army aviation helicopters have taken off from Peshawar to Parachinar for speedy evacuation of injured to peshawer.

Earlier in the day, a car bomb explosion also claimed 13 lives at Shuhada Chowk in Quetta.
