RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Four Pakistan Army Soldiers including a Major embraced martyrdom in Khyber and North Waziristan districts, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, the ISPR said that on the night of 05/06 July 2023, the Security Forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) on reported presence of terrorists in Shakhas area of Khyber District.

While establishment of blocking positions to cut the escape routes of terrorists was underway, a party of terrorists was spotted by Major Abdullah who was leading the operation from the front.

As a result of heavy exchange of fire, the brave son of the nation Major Mian Abdullah Shah (age 33 years, resident of Kohat) having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.Major among four soldiers martyred in Khyber & North Waziristan districts: ISPR

Three terrorists and their facilitators were apprehended.

The ISPR said that the sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area.

It said that security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve.

Earlier on Tuesday, a vehicle borne suicide bomber exploded himself in Miran Shah area of North Waziristan District.

Resultantly, Naib Subedar Sahib Khan (age 41 years, resident of Mianwali), Naik Muhammad Ibrahim (age 40 years, resident of Dera Ismail Khan) and Sepoy Jehangir Khan (age 24 years, resident of Mardan) embraced shahadat, while three innocent civilians got critically injured.

The ISPR said that the suicide bomber intended targeting the security forces’ post, however, timely interception of the suicide bomber on suspicion by on-duty soldiers prevented a major catastrophe.
