PESHAWAR, Pakistan: As many as nine persons were killed and 32 others suffered injuries at the Agriculture Directorate in Peshawar where terrorists launched an attack on Friday morning.

Police sources said that three burqa-clad terrorists entered the hostel of the directorate located near Agriculture University, and opened firing indiscriminately which led to the death of nine persons and injuries to 32 others.

Meanwhile, police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Pakistan army personnel reached the firing area and blocked the University road as well as all adjoining roads for traffic.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that ant-terror operation has been successful as all three terrorists involved in the attack have been killed.Terrorists attack Agriculture Directorate in Peshawar, 9 killed

Hospital sources said that as a result of terrorists’ firing, seven students, SHO University Campus Farhat, one police officer, a journalist, and a guard were among 32 injured persons, and subsequently they were rushed to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar for medical treatement. Two Pakistan army persons were also injured, and were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

The ISPR said that the operation has now entered the final phase, and now the clearance operation is underway. It said that army aviation is doing air surveillance of area, adding that eight students have been evacuated from the hostel.

The outlawed terror outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack at Agriculture Directorate in Peshawar.

An employee of the Agriculture Directorate told media that usually 300 to 400 students are present in the hostel; however there is a public holiday on the eve of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal; therefore, most of the students had left for their houses.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
