QUETTA, Pakistan: Unknown assailants shot dead four policemen including a Superintendent of Police (SP) in Balochistan’s Capital on Thursday morning, police official said.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema told that assailants targeted the vehicle of SP Quaidabad Mubarak Shah in Killi Deba area of Quetta.
Police said that the SP Quaidabad along with other policemen was patrolling in the area when his vehicle was attacked.
Resultantly, SP Quaidabad Mubarak Shah and three other policemen were killed in the firing.
The bodies were rushed to the Civil Hospital Quetta for legal formalities.
Meanwhile, police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the site and launched a probe into the incident.
It was apparently an incident of targeted killing; however, the culprits behind the attack was yet to be found out.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned targeting of police officials in Quetta in which SP and other police officials embraced martyrdom.
In a statement, the prime minister while expressing deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the attack, prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
The prime minister directed to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured and prayed for their swift recovery.
