QUETTA, Pakistan: Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) Candidate in PB-35 Mastung Nawabzada Siraj Raisani died in a suicide blast that struck his political gathering in Balochistan’s Mastung District on Friday.

Levies Sources said that the blast took place in Daringarh area of Mastung wherein a corner meeting was underway. He was received as dead in Quetta hospital.

 

According to reports received from Mastung, Nawab Siraj Riasani was seriously injured in the attack and was shifted to Quetta and he was received as dead in Quetta hospital. However, district administration is yet to confirm about the status of Nawab Siraj Raisani officially. Meanwhile, Kashkari Raisani, brother of Siraj Raisani confirmed the death of his brother while talking to a private television channel.

 

Mastung is a district located in the northwest of Balochistan province. At least 45 people were killed while 53 were in critical condition. Eyewitness via telephone informed Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency said that Nawab Siraj Riasani and his family members were conducting a corner meeting when suicide bomber entered the meeting and detonated himself. However, credibility of news about suicide bombing is yet to be establishment by the local administration. 25 dead bodies were shifted to Nawab Ghous Bux memorial hospital Mastung from Daringarh, said local journalists.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mastung confirmed the blast while talking to media, and told that five people have been martyred while more than 35 people have been injured as per the initial information. The injured were shifted to District Hospital in Mastung.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that Siraj Raisani is the younger brother of the former Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani.

 

The Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Marri strongly condemned the Mastung blast, and asked the DC to submit a report in that regard.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
