PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial Information Secretary Haroon Bashir Bilour – who had been martyred in Peshawar blast last night – was laid to rest at Wazir Bagh in Peshawar on Wednesday afternoon.

Three-layered security had been deployed for the funeral prayer of Haroon Bilour, in which a large number of people belonging to all walks of life attended.

Haroon Bilour – whose father Bashir Ahmed Bilour had also lost his life in December 12 terrorist attack – was among 20 people who were martyred as a result of a suicide blast at ANP’s Corner Meeting held in Peshawar’s Yakatoot area on Tuesday night as part of electioneering for PK-78 Peshawar-XIII election. Haroon Bilour was ANP’s Candidate from the said Constituency.

Over Haroon Bilour’s martyrdom, ANP announced to observe three-day mourning across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and suspended all political activities.

Meanwhile, a large number of people including the ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Hazrat Omer Zakhilwal visited the Bilour House in Peshawar to express heartfelt condolences and solidarity with bereaved family and friends of Haroon Bilour.

While the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) postponed the upcoming election in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Constituency PK-78 Peshawar-XIII, and announced that election in the said Constituency will be held along with the by-elections.
