ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in most parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from Saturday to Monday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in upper parts of the country in next 24 hours.
A fresh westerly wave is also expected to approach upper parts of the country on Saturday.
In Punjab, widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Islamabad and Upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions.
Scattered rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are also expected in central and South Punjab including Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur divisions during the period.
While in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan divisions.
In FATA, widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, North and South Agencies.
In Kashmir, widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Poonch divisions while in Gilgit-Baltistan, scattered rain-thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Monsoon rain coupled with glacier-melt water may result in outburst of some glacial lakes in Chitral, Gilgit, Ghizer and Shigar areas.
Heavy downpour may generate urban flooding in big cities and flash flooding in vulnerable areas of Punjab and KP during Saturday to Monday.
