RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The US Deputy Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken has called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel and acknowledged sacrifices and appreciated efforts by Pakistani security forces for peace and stability in the region.
The meeting was held at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed matters related to security challenges and reiterated the need of early resumption of reconciliation process to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan which is so critical for stability in the region.
The United States Ambassador to PakistanDavid Hale and the US Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Richard G. Olson were also present during the meeting.
The between occurred a day after the fifth Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial conference concluded in Islamabad, reaffirming its support for resumption of Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process for last peace and stability in that country.
