ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate on Monday passed a unanimous resolution condemning in strongest terms the heinous crime of child abuse committed in Punjab’s Kasur district.
The resolution was moved by Senator Nasreen Jalil of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
The resolution urged the government to ensure that justice is delivered and perpetrators be taken to task. It said that the perpetrators should be handed down harsh punishment and made an example.
The house also reaffirmed its commitment to standby with victims who are future of Pakistan.
On the occasion, the Leader of the House Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq pointed out that the Punjab government has already announced to probe the incident through judicial commission.
Meanwhile in a statement, the Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed has expressed grave concern over Kasur incident and said that it is extremely condemnable.
The minister said that such incident cannot be tolerated in any civilized society. He assured that justice will be provided to the affected children and their parents at all costs.
Rasheed welcomed the order of the Punjab government for judicial investigation into the incident. He said that the people responsible for this heinous crime will be brought to justice and they will be awarded exemplary punishment.
