ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, Pakistan: The westerly wave have entered the upper and central parts of the Country causing moderate rain in the Federal Capital, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, turning weather chilly and muggy.

The fresh rain spell with snowfall over the hills is expected to last for next three days; therefore, according to Met Office, cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in most parts of the Country including in North-East Balochistan and Sindh during this week.

During next 24 hours, rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in upper FATA and South Punjab.

Meanwhile, the citizen of Lahore also experienced a chilly, showery Monday as early morning rainfall caused temperature drop to 8.3 degree centigrade in the City, making all feel the bite in the air.

Talking to the state-run news agency, the Chief Meteorologist of Lahore Muhammad Riaz said Lahore would experience chilly weather on Tuesday as well with same temperature and the conditions might continue till Wednesday while another one or two outbreaks of rain in the current month were also expected.

With snowfall over the mountainous areas and shallow foggy conditions, temperature was likely to further drop in coming days but there would be some sun on Wednesday, he added.

Muhammad Riaz said almost entire province was in the grip of a cold wave on Monday, with a number of cities and towns struck by temperature ranging between 7 and 15 degree centigrade.

“The city may receive rainfall for two more days due to which the temperature is expected to drop even more”, he added.

The Chief Meteorologist said on the basis of prevailing global atmospheric and ocean conditions, slightly above normal rainfall in the upper parts and normal rest of the Country was predicted during December 2017.
