ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has extended the validity period of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

As per a notification issued by the NADRA, the validity of CNIC that have expired Since September 1, 2019 and are due to expire by June 30, 2020 shall be deemed to be valid till July 1, 2020.

Meanwhile in a letter issued by the Director General (Operations) Colonel (retd) Tahir Maqsood Khan to all NADRA Regional Headquarters that the extension in the validity period of National Identity Cards needs to be communicated to all applicants visiting the NADRA Offices for the purpose of renewal of their National Identity Cards and to all relevant stakeholders.

Earlier, the Chairman NADRA Usman Y. Mobin issued directives to ensure all safety measures at all Centres including the screening of all visitors.

The Chairman NADRA directed that the use of sanitizers must be encouraged after thumb impression of Citizens are taken and the disinfecting spray be applied to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
