ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Capital may witness an unexpected untoward incident according to intelligence sources as they have issued high security alert and also ordered suspension of mobile services in parts of Islamabad in recent days as a precautionary measures.
Like November 27, mobile phone services were again suspended on Friday in areas adjacent to the famous Lal Masjid from 11:00 am to 02:00 pm while according to a customer services representative, mobile services of most companies were terminated throughout the city.
The services remained suspended in G-6, G-7 and F-6 areas under the directive of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The representative said that the order to shut down the mobile services was issued for security reasons.
Meanwhile, citizens of the twin cities were advised to use alternative means and remain patient.
Earlier security alert was also issued for December 09 by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad in which the residents of Rawalpindi/Islamabad were advised to remain extra vigilant as there might by any untoward situation caused by the terror outfits.
“There are some genuinely credible security & safety concerns from military intelligence sources as main reason to publish this alert here for the sake of safety and security of the general public,” said in the security advisory issued.
It was requested to all residents of Islamabad/Rawalpindi to kindly alter their plans of visiting renowned Malls such as Centaurus and Safa Gold etc in the Capital for a few days.
Recently, the Islamabad police also launched a campaign against vehicles with tinted glasses and installing blue lights on their vehicle’s roof in violation of law in the twin cities.
The special security measures are being taken in Islamabad as the first anniversary of Peshawar Army Public School (APS) terror attack is getting closer. In order to pay tributes to the martyrs of APS, various ceremonies are being organized across the country including in Islamabad.
The intelligence sources fear that the terror outfits may resort to carry out another major terror attack in the Federal Capital like one occurred on December 16, 2014 at APS Peshawar.
