ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Eid Ul Fitr will fall in Pakistan on Sunday (May 24, 2020) like elsewhere in the world as announced by the Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman.

The announcement of sighting the Moon of Shawwal 1441 AH marked the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan.

The festival will also be celebrated in the Gulf region including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday.

However, amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Muslims won’t be able to offer Eid prayers at mosques even in Saudi Arabia since they have been shut to halt the spread of the virus.

The Saudi authorities have urged Muslims to perform Eid Ul Fitr prayer 2020 at home as according to the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz al-Sheikh as it’s permissible for Muslims to perform such Islamic rituals at home amid the COVID-19 outbreak.Eid prayer 2020 - Eid Ul Fitr is likely to fall in Pakistan on Sunday (May 24, 2020) like elsewhere in the world; however, as it’s yet to be ascertained as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Karachi on Saturday evening to sight the moon, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan. People have been asked to comply with following guiltiness to attend the Eid congregations; • Make ablution at home, and wear mask • Offer Eid prayer in an open area as per priority • Avoid offering prayer on road or footpath • Maintain a six-feet distance to each other while performing prayer • Don’t lay down carpets on the floor if prayer is to be offer within the mosque premises • Wash the floor with chlorine • People above 50 years of age and children must offer the prayer at home • Avoid embracing each other, just verbally convey Eid greetings to each other
