ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The government has allocated Rs 41 billion for rehabilitation and upgradation of railways network across the country.

According to the current Annual Development Plan, special initiatives have been taken for improvement of signaling system, procurement of new rolling stock and locomotives and uninterrupted coal supply from Karachi to various coal fired power plants across the country.

The plan envisages upgradation of main line from Karachi to Peshawar, development of dry port at Havelian and doubling of existing track from Port Qasim to Bin Qasim station under the aegis of CPEC flagship project.
