RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will inaugurate the National Tree Plantation Campaign today, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a twitter message on Monday, the Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Pakistan army would plant 10 million trees during this monsoon across the Country under the Campaign named “Sarsabz-O-Shadab Pakistan”.
The ISPR said that the COAS will initiate simultaneous plantation of two million trees today.

It is worth mentioning here that soon to be formed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government in the Centre with Imran Khan as the Country’s prime minister has also pledged to plant 10 billion trees across the Country in next five years to tackle the effects of climate change.
Earlier the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government claimed to have planted more than one billion trees in the province from 2013 to 2018 under the Billion Tree Tsunami Program.
