NationalNo problem found in ATR-72 engine itself: PIA spokesman

KARACHI, Pakistan: An engineering team of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Monday inspected the plane at Multan airport that had aborted take off a day earlier due to some technical issue, said the spokesman for the national flag carrier here.

He said the engineering team sent from Karachi to inspect the engines of the ATR aircraft carried out a thorough borescopic of the allegedly reported engine and found that “contrary to media reports the engine itself had no problem at all”.

“It was rather the surge bleed valve which required replacement.

The borescopic also revealed that none of the engine parts was damaged, which also negated any possibility of the engine having caught fire,” the PIA spokesman added.

The take off of PIA’s Multan-Karachi flight PK-581 was aborted on Sunday night due to some technical issue and the ATR-72 aircraft was temporarily grounded.
