LAHORE, Pakistan: Like other parts of the country, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in Lahore on Monday, 12th of Rabi-ul Awwal, the birthday of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The Milad celebrations were in full swing right from Fajr with special prayers at Mosques, religious seminaries and other Mahafil held in this regard.

Conferences and meetings on Seerat-un-Nabi (SAW) were also held in different parts of the city where speakers highlighted various aspects of ‘Uswa-e-Hasna’, the sacred life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as a constant source of guidance for the mankind.

Main procession of Milad was taken out from Lahore Railway station, under the aegis of Central Committee for Jashn-e-Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), in the morning, which was participated in by a large number of the faithful reciting Darood, Naat and Hamd-o-Sana.

Prior to the procession, a Seerat conference was also held which was attended by prominent persons and notables. Scouts from various schools and colleges, national volunteers, Civil Defence, Labour Force, Janbaz Force and others presented salute on this auspicious occasion. Rose petals showered over the participants of the procession, while the route of the procession was profusely decorated with bunting and banners.

Welcome-stages were also set up at 120 different points of the route. Public and private buildings, markets, houses, roads and streets were decorated tastefully. Various other Milad processions also joined the main procession at different places of the route.

Special prayers were also offered for unity of Muslim Ummah, as well as progress and prosperity of Pakistan. The procession, after passing through its traditional route of Railway station, Australia Chowk, Brandreth Road, Guwalmandi, Mayo Hospital Road, Abbock Road, Anarkali, Mochi Darwaze and Bhati, culminated at the tomb of Hazrat Data Gang Bukhsh (RA).

Milad processions were also taken out in other parts of the city while Mahafil-e-Naat and Milad were not only arranged by various religious, social and cultural organizations and educational institutions but also individually by prominent politicians, bureaucrats, judges, businessmen, industrialists and other social figures of the city.

Mahafil-e-Milad and Seerat Conference were held at GOR, DHA, Davis Road, Model Town, Baba Ground, Iqbal Town, Moon Market, Gulberg, Madina Colony, Minar-e-Pakistan, Data Darbar, the city mosques, religious seminaries, shrines, government institutions, streets, bazaars, markets, and other public places.

The social, religious and cultural organizations also made elaborate arrangements for providing drinking water, beverages, sweets and other edible to the participants of the procession and seerat conferences/Mahafil-e-Milad.

At the Mahafil-e-Miladun Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him), ulema, mashaikh and other religious scholars highlighted the glorious aspect of the sacred life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and said Hazrat Muhammad’s life was an example for humankind. They stressed the need for following in the footprints of Holy Prophet (PBUH) to attain success in the world and hereafter. They advised the participants to mould their lives according to the teachings of Islam to become a useful citizens. They further advised the people to change their minds positively by spending rest of their lives according to teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Medical camps were also set up to facilitate the participants of the procession, while Rescue-1122 Emergency Service, Bomb Disposal Squad, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and police personnel remained alert to deal with emergency situation. As many as 8,000 rescuers performed duties in three shifts and the processions were provided with fully equipped emergency vehicles including ambulances, fire tenders and specialized vehicles.

The Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service also remained operational for monitoring of all districts and provide directions and assistance.

Punjab government made foolproof security arrangements for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) to ensure peace and tranquility throughout the province. Lahore city police put in place a comprehensive security plan under which 10,000 policemen were deployed to check and monitor the people with suspecious activities in the Milad processions and conferences, besides installation of CCTV cameras (Close Circuit TV) not only on the various buildings along sides the routes but also mouted these on the vehicles to ensure enhanced security to the faithful.

All Range DIGs and DPOs remained on duty to ensure checking of all vehicles along the routes of Eid Milad processions.

The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has launched a special cleanliness drive to remove solid waste from the routes of Milad processions, mosque-surroundings and other parts of the city. Sanitation field staff’s leaves were cancelled to ensure their easy availability on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
