ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 770,026 crimes were registered across Pakistan in 2019 whereas the previous year (2018) had witnessed 687,707 crime-related incidents, showing an increase of 12% in the last year.

In 2019, Peshawar remained the Highest Crime Ranked District wherein 38,926 crimes were registered while the Lowest Crime Ranked District was Kohistan with 222 crimes.
Moreover in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), a total of 60 cases of child sexual abuse were registered in 2019 and 75 accused persons were arrested whereas in 2018, 66 such cases were registered and 80 accused persons were taken into custody.
Out of those, no accused was convicted in the year 2018, one accused was convicted in 2019 whereas the remaining accused persons are facing trial.
Likewise, 839,256 incidents of violation of traffic laws took place in the ICT in 2019 in which 109,214 tickets were issued to motorcyclists for not wearing a helmet while riding, and 8,561 violation tickets were issued to the drivers of vehicles plied without proper lights.
