ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A two-day Capacity Building National Workshop on “Strategic Communication and Media Engagement in Crisis Situation” for the Parliamentarians began at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad on Tuesday.
It’s the third training workshop for the Parliamentarians organized by the Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC), a research & communication project of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
The workshop would strengthen the understanding of the participants on how to interact with during crisis situations.
The participants of the workshop comprised Parliamentarians from Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab.
In his inaugural speech, the Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan said that we as a nation have been able to overcome the challenge of violent extremism which translated into the promotion of tourism, investments international sports events.
Senator Faisal Javed said that it is now incumbent upon Parliamentarians belonging to various political parties to project Pakistan as a peaceful Country which is the real image of Pakistan.
The Chief Executive Officer PPC Mian Shabbir Anwar in his introductory remarks elaborated upon the significance of the training workshop.
Mian Shabbir Anwar expressed confidence that the two days training would help the participants in developing their communication skills to confidently interact with media during any crisis situation.
The speakers/trainers of the workshop included Dr Mowadat Rana and senior journalist Barrister Mahreen Khan who covered various aspects of the subject matter.
The interactive sessions were followed by a mock exercise on individual Press Briefings Press Talks.
