ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Thursday said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), has initiated the pilot project of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

Replaying to question in the National Assembly during question hour, the minister said that for the said purpose Request for Proposal (RFP) has been finalized based on the technical specifications of the machines on turn-key basis.

He said that these technical specifications were derived after the detailed consultation with the member of sub-committee of the Parliament for “Electoral Reforms of the Parliament” ministry of IT and Telecom and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

He told that the Election Commission of Pakistan has approved the RFP and summary sent to the Prime Minister for seeking approval of the funds.

The minister said the ECP will float the tender for inviting bids from the vendor for 400 Electronic Voting Machines.
