LAHORE/ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Saeed Khosa has excused himself for taking up the charge as the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) bowing down to public pressure withdrew his name for the Post in the Interim Setup.

On May 28, the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and the Opposition Leader in the Punjab assembly PTI’s Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed agreed to place Nasir Khosa as the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab for the Interim Setup.

However the PTI Central Leadership stepped back from its decision of nominating Nasir Khosa for the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab on Wednesday, and said it would propose another name soon.

Meanwhile talking to media outside the Accountability Court in Islamabad today, the Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah said this had been the constant behavior of PTI, first they did something and then thought about it. He said the party claiming to control the system of Pakistan became troublesome for the honest bureaucrat.

Rana Sanaullah said PTI could have requested Nasir Khosa himself to withdraw his name. He said the process of consultation had completed and as per the Constitution consultations couldn’t be held once again.

The Punjab Law Minister said if Nasir Khosa agreed to take the responsibility, his notification would be issued by 12:00 am today. But if Nasir Khosa didn’t agree, the matter would be referred to the Election Commission, he added.
