LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab government has announced to take a legal action against the senior journalist Fahd Husain and Dawn News for attributing a false statement to the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar.

In his article titled “RED ZONE FILES: Who’s fighting the Corona war?” which was published in Dawn News on Thursday, Fahd Hussain depicted a gloomy state of affairs in the Punjab province and doubted the competence of the provincial authorities especially the Chief Minister in tackling the impending Coronavirus Crises.

Fahd Hussain narrated that how Usman Buzdar baffled everyone when in a recent briefing on the COVID-19 Outbreak held in Lahore, he asked an immature question from experts that “Yeh corona kaat-ta kaisay hai? (how does this corona bite)?”

Responding to the article, the Punjab government termed the above statement attributed to the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in Dawn’s article as ‘absolutely rubbish, baseless & fake’.

“It is sad and unfortunate that in these testing times some people find the opportunity to publish their imagination as news,” the statement from the Punjab government said.

The provincial government also announced to take a legal action against the author of the article Fahd Husain and the Publisher Dawn News for their irresponsible and unprofessional behavior.

It also urged the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and regulatory bodies to take a strict action against such malpractices, as we cannot allow anyone to create panic and push their ulterior agendas in these testing times.
