CPNE expresses concerns over death threat to Shaheen Qureshi of Jang group

KARACHI: Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), while expressing its deep concern over the life threats given to CPNE Vice President and Editor Coordination, Jang Group of Newspapers Shaheen Qureshi, strongly condemned such threats being given to media people, reports Online news agency.
In a meeting held here at CPNE Central Secretariat which was presided over by President, CPNE Mujib-ur Rehman Shami declared such threats a continuous effort to curb the freedom of press in the country. In a resolution approved unanimously CPNE said that it is the responsibility of state institutions to provide security to editors, Journalists and Media House and urged the government to take appropriate measures in this regard.
CPNE further emphasized that better coordination is required among all state institutions and all media organizations for the protection of democracy, freedom of expression and freedom of press to find a better solution of present media crisis wisely. (ends)
