SRINAGAR: In the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), a prominent human rights activist was arrested by the police for raising voice in support of a tribal youth who had been shot to death in J&K’s Anantnag district last month.

The 26-year-old Parvez Ahmad Khan was killed by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Anantnag on October 7, 2021 under the mysterious circumstances.

Parvez was the major breadwinner in his family of seven including two minor daughters, pregnant wife, a minor sister and younger brother besides ageing parents.

Raising questions about the circumstances in which Parvez Ahmad Khan was gunned by the CRPF, the 28-year-old People’s Democratic Party (PPP) leader and human rights activist Talib Hussain posted a 14-minute Facebook video.

Therefore, the J&K Police on November 9, 2021 picked up Talib from his home in Kokernag area of Anantnag district and filed a Case (FIR No. 65 of 2021) against him under Section 505 and 153 of the Indian Penal Code.

The police alleged that Talib Hussain made a ‘provocative speech’ after the killing of a youth in the CRPF firing, and called it a fake encounter and provoked people against the authorities and Indian forces.
