KashmirIndian designs foiled as Kashmiris observe Accession to Pakistan Day

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Amid heightened restrictions under the guise of COVID-19 but primarily aimed at suppressing the voices of Kashmiris for their due rights, India is once again licking the dust on Sunday when Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and all over the world are observing the Accession to Pakistan Day.

The Day commemorates the unanimous passing of a resolution on July 19, 1947 by Kashmiris at a meeting of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar for their accession to Pakistan.

However, their right to self-determination was always denied and the valley was forcibly acceded to India.

Therefore, Kashmiris’ desire to be acceded to Pakistan – with which they share bonds of religion, geography, and culture – yet remains unfulfilled.

The Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day will be observed with a renewed pledge to continue the struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and complete merger of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan. Since its Occupation by the Indian forces, more than 450,000 Kashmiris have rendered sacrifices for their freedom and the Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan, as per the Kashmir Media Service. Their desire to live with Pakistan was reinvigorated last year when India revoked its Special Status on August 5 and turned the entire valley of Jammu and Kashmir into a prison by imposing unlimited restrictions. Repenting over their decision to prefer India over Pakistan in 1947 when New Delhi revoked the Article 370 in August last year, the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Mehbooba Mufti also termed it a mistake and admitted that alignment with India had backfired.
