RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Japanese Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor Kentaro Sonoura met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including bilateral security cooperation and overall regional situation were discussed, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The worthy guest fully supported for the peace in Afghanistan through political reconciliation.

Earlier Kentaro Sonoura also met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, and expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan.

The prime minister told the Japanese prime minister’s national security advisor that Pakistan looks forward to greater level of cooperation with Japan, particularly in the area of trade, investment, infrastructure and human resource development.

Separately, the advisor also held a meeting with the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and exchanged ideas on enhancing cooperation in political, defense, economic and commercial sectors.
