Islamabad police registers murder case against Nawaz Sharif, others

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A murder case has been registered against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and key cabinet ministers for their alleged involvement in the deaths of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers in clashes between protesters and police in Islamabad’s Red Zone.

It comes a day after the Islamabad district and sessions court ordered framing of murder charges against Nawaz Sharif and others over the killing of protesters, the second criminal case to be filed against the embattled prime minister.

The secretariat police station registered the case on late Tuesday night under Section 7 of the ATA and PPCs 302, 324, 148, 149.

On August 30, at least three persons were killed and over 500 injured in clashes with police after the PAT leader Dr Tahirul Qadri and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan asked their supporters to march toward the prime minister house.
