BANJUL, Gambia: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with the OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha on Thursday on the sidelines of the 15th Islamic Summit in Banjul, Gambia.Ishaq Dar meets OIC Secretary General, shares Pakistan’s concerns over Islamophobia

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar shared Pakistan’s grave concerns over increasing number of incidents of Islamophobia, discrimination, violence and incitement against Muslims globally and particularly exacerbated due to Israel’s aggression against Palestine.

The deputy prime minister called for joint action to counter Islamophobia.

Furthermore, he briefed the OIC secretary general on the dire situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Ishaq Dar appreciated the historic role of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir and the Special Envoy on Kashmir for supporting the legitimate right of self-determination of the Kashmiris as reflected in various OIC resolutions.

Expressing concern on the ongoing genocide and dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, he stressed on the urgency of a ceasefire and unhindered supply of humanitarian assistance.

The deputy prime minister lauded the OIC’s efforts and initiatives for peace in the Middle East and expressed full support of Pakistan for these initiatives.
