Indian flag Tiranga on Lays chips in Pakistan?
Lahore, Pakistan: Indian flag also known as Tiranga is reaching almost every shop and home in Pakistan on the celebration of Pakistan Independence Day—this is not a joke but close to reality.
Every multinational firm in Pakistan does something for selling its products through special campaigns in connection with special days. Pakistan Independence Day is of course such day to come up with something special in branding for product and sales campaigns. International product seller “Lays Pakistan” has come up with a unique idea to print Special Independence title with colour scheme that is the same of Indian flag—Tiranga.
Nobody can say anything that whether this is an “error or engineered” but this pack is in market and you can buy it. Interestingly, the market is flooded with this pack and shopkeepers are now realizing what they are selling to people but they cannot stop sales because campaign has sales incentives for shopkeepers.
Chips pack has not only colours of Indian flag rather one can find Chakra also at the same place where Chakra is on Indian flag. The only difference that this Chakra is actually photo of a single round shaped chip at the middle of the printing.
When asked to comment, a senior media manager said with the condition of anonymity that over 90% international firms/ corporate sector in Pakistan is using brand promotion teams, media planning teams and promotional campaign developer of India to cut the cost and even same advertisements are run on Pakistani media that are made for and from India. She said that this is not for Lays chips only rather 90% corporate sector is doing the same. She thought this design might be developed by some Indian company for Lays Pakistan. She said if this is such case, then Lays Pakistan should penalize its brand managing team and if this design is done by any Pakistani company then this company should realize what it is promoting in Pakistan.
