Imran Khan demands FC to return to its original duty

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that the Frontier Constabulary (FC) was formed for tribal areas, it must immediately be brought back to its original duty.

Talking to media in Peshawar on Monday, the PTI chairman also demanded legislation to ban illegal SIMs and better border management to regulate movement on Pak-Afghan border.

Imran Khan, in addition, demanded immediate repatriation of illegal Afghan refugees and firm plans for repatriation of the registered ones.

The PTI chairman said that the war on terror can be won through unity of the nation.

“The war is difficult but not impossible,” Imran Khan said, adding that the policy to counter terrorism needs to be multi-pronged and needs implementation as well.

Imran said that due to sacrifices of children in Peshawar school attack, every one of us is under pressure to tackle the issue of terrorism.

Imran Khan, whose political party rules Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said that the provincial police is in dire need of counter terrorism intelligence.

“The KPK is front line province, its police need system to intercept calls and gather intelligence,” he said.

The PTI chief said that the police need capacity building and training. He said that the police personnel are not trained for counter terrorism.

Moreover, the PTI chairman also strongly urged the federal government to help the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in coping with problems of the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Imran said that 1.7 million Afghan refugees and two million IDPs from the federally administrated tribal areas (FATA) are now in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, Imran Khan visited the army public school in Peshawar where on December 16 militants carried out a terror attack that left nearly 150 persons mostly children dead.

Federal govt announces to give additional Rs 26 billion to KPK

Meanwhile, the federal government has announced to give additional Rs 26 billion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

In a statement which came shortly after Imran Khan’s press conference in Peshawar, the federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed said that the federal government has already spent Rs 30 billion on the IDPs.

The information minister said that the government will give more funds to address reservations of Imran Khan.
