IMF revives loan programme to Pakistan despite the political meddling of PTI

Monitoring Desk: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revived Pakistan’s programme after getting approval from its board. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tried to meddle with IMF negotiations with Pakistan by sending a letter that KPK would not support promises given by the federation of Pakistan.

IMF executive directors gave approval on Monday for the extension of the loan to Pakistan except for India which abstained from the voting. The Board has approved the completion of the combined 7th and 8th review under the EFF and the release of the tranche of SDR 894 million or $1.16 billion, according to Pakistani officials.

The following audio leak between the two leaders of PTI— former Finance Minister and KPK Finance Minister Taimur Jhagra exposed how PTI tried to stop IMF to release loans to Pakistan. Worth listening.
