LAHORE, Pakistan: In line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision and the Federal government’s pro-poor Ehsaas Program, the Punjab government has launched the “Human Capital Investment Project” worth Rs 55 billion in 11 poorest districts of the province aimed at to control stunted growth and improve early childhood education.

The Punjab government has initiated the project with the help of the World Bank.

   

The Punjab Human Capital Investment Project has been launched in Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, and Lodhran districts.Human Capital Investment Project - In line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision and the Federal government’s pro-poor Ehsaas Program, the Punjab government has launched the "Human Capital Investment Project" worth Rs 55 billion in 11 poorest districts of the province aimed at to control stunted growth and improve early childhood education. The Punjab Human Capital Investment Project has been launched in Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Lodhran districts of Punjab. In a statement on Monday, the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that under the project, we will provide "food supplements" to pregnant and lactating women at various stages with cash transfers so that the physical development of children can take place properly. The Chief Minister said that in addition, various employment opportunities will be provided to 18 to 29 year-old couples through training. Usman Buzdar said that under the program, 166 Basic Health Units (BHUs) will be made functional for 24 hours, training will be imparted to 22,000 Health Care Professionals and 20,000 Teachers. Besides, Early Childhood Education Rooms would be established in 3,400 Schools, he said. The Punjab Chief Minister expressed hope that the five-year project will help millions of people come out of poverty.
