In Pakistan, the government has made it mandatory for overseas Pakistanis to have an internationally recognized ID card issued locally. The National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) is an ID card issued to those citizens of Pakistan who currently live abroad or plan to move in the near future. Dual nationals are also eligible to apply for NICOP in Pakistan as directed by the federal government.

Documents Required for NICOP Registration

If you want to apply for NICOP in Pakistan, you must have a set of required documents to initiate the application process.

If Parents/Blood Relatives Are Present

  • A copy of your CNIC or NICOP of parents or blood relatives
  • Biometric verification of parents or blood relatives

If Parents/Blood Relatives Are Absent

If your parents or blood relatives are absent, but you have their documents with you, you need:

  • Applicant’s presence (you)
  • Copy of CNIC or NICOP of parents/blood relatives
  • Matric or CRC certificate OR passport
  • Computerized ID card form (attested)

If the documents of your parents or blood relatives are also not available, you need:

  • Applicant’s presence (you)
  • Original CNIC of parents/guardian or blood relatives
  • Computerized ID card form (attested)
  • Biometric witness of any CNIC holder along with the affidavit (issued by NADRA)

Steps to Apply for NICOP

  • Go to the nearby NADRA center and get a token from the token counter
  • Go for the photograph (when called)
  • Provide your fingerprints and signature as directed by the officer
  • Provide all your relevant documents as required by NADRA
  • Receive the printed form from the officer and get it attested by one of the government officials
  • Once attested, submit the form to the nearest NADRA center

How to Apply for NICOP

  • Open the Pak-Identity portal on your web browser
  • Create an account by submitting the required information
  • Log into your account
  • Click on NICOP
  • Choose from the four different categories, including New, NICOP Cancellation, NICOP Renewal, and Modification
  • Submit all the required details
  • Attach the required documents
  • Submit the application form

Once you submit the application, you will receive the card at your given address within the next few working days.
