How many SIM Cards can one person have?

PTA has issued a regulation that allows an individual to have a maximum of 5 SIM cards under his/her CNIC. All these 5 SIMs are verified and registered in his name. If someone already has five SIMs, he/she cannot get any more SIMs. If someone wants to buy an additional SIM, he/she has to block one of the SIMs.

It is important to note that a person can have, in no condition, no more than 5 SIMs registered under his CNIC.

  • Through Website

To check SIM Cards ownership on CNIC via SMS, follow this simple procedure:

  • Start a new message on your phone.
  • In the message box, type in your CNIC number without hyphens.
  • After that, send a text message to 668.
  • After sending the message, you will receive a text message about the information regarding SIM cards on your CNIC.
  • The fee for this service is PKR 2+ tax.
  • Note that you will be asked for confirmation to use mobile phone credit before sending the text to 668.

Checking SIM Card Ownership on CNIC is easy, convenient, and free through the website. To check it through the website, you have to follow this method:

  • First of all, open your browser.
  • Go to the PTA SIM Information System website.
  • After going to the website, you will be required to enter your information.
  • In the box, type in your CNIC number.
  • After entering your CNIC number, tick the box that asks “Verify you are not a robot
  • Then, press send.
  • After submitting your request, the page will show all the sim cards issued against your CNIC. It will also provide information about SIM card numbers and the telecom operators.

How to Block SIM Cards registered against your CNIC?

If you find any sims issued against your name that you are unaware of, you need to block those cards immediately. To block extra SIM Cards issued against your CNIC, follow these steps.

  • The message clearly states the name of the cellular company of each SIM Card.
  • So, visit the nearest franchise or customer support office of the relevant telecom provider.
  • The Customer service representative will demand your original CNIC to begin the process.
  • Fill in a form to block registered SIM.
  • After following the process, your SIM will be blocked immediately.
