ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A suspected case of Monkeypox (Mpox) has been reported at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of health said that a suspected case of Monkeypox was reported at PIMS Hospital and the sample was sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Fortunately, the test result of the suspected case came out negative.

The Spokesperson said that the 47-year-old suspected person is a resident of Azad Kashmir.

So far, only one Mpox case has been reported in Pakistan, according to the Spokesperson.

The Spokesperson said that the Ministry of Health is continuously monitoring the situation. He said that effective measures are being taken to protect the public from Monkeypox.
