ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Saturday announced an increase in the salaries of nurses, according to which, student nurses in the Center would now receive Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 6,000 as their monthly stipend.
In a statement today, Zafar Mirza said that the mess allowance of regular nurses in grade 16 has been enhanced to Rs 8,000 from Rs 500 while the dress allowance of regular nurses has also been increased from Rs 600 to Rs 3,000.
Dr Zafar Mirza said that this increase is estimated to cost over Rs 228 million to the government annually.
The special assistant said that this is an Eid Gift to the nurses from Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that this is the first step towards granting incentives to the nurses who are backbone of the health sector.
Zafar Mirza said that health is the foremost priority of the government and all possible resources will be allocated to bring improvement in it.
