ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Declaring District Health Authorities abortive, the Punjab government has decided to hand over Hospitals and Primary Health Centres in 22 districts to the Punjab Health Facilities Management Company (PHFMC).

As per Daily Nai Baat, the PHFMC would take over Non-Teaching District Headquarters Hospitals, Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals, and Primary Health Centres.

The daily reported that district health authorities would themselves hand over these hospitals to the PHFMC in phases by August 15, 2018. In this regard, the Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Department Company has officially signed the agreement.

Registered with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and declared a non-profit Company, the PHFMC would have the authority to run these hospitals till next five years. However, the five-year contract could be extended.

As per the schedule of handing over of District Headquarters Hospitals, Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals, and Basic Health Units (BHUs) from district health authorities to PHFMC, on November 1 above mentioned hospitals would be handed over to the Management Company in Muzaffargarh.

Likewise, on November 15 in Bahawalnagar, on December 1 in Bahawalpur, on November 15 in Gujrat, on January 1, 2018 in Okara, on January 15 in Multan, on February 1 in Rawalpindi and Khushab, on February 15 in Khanewal, on March 1 in Sargodha, and on March 15 in Nankana Sahib, these state-run hospitals would be handed over to the PHFMC.

While handing over would take place in Jhelum and Jhang on April 2, in Layyah on April 15, in Sheikhupura on May 1, in Chiniot on May 15, in Sialkot on June 1, in Narowal on June 15, in Attock on July 1, in Bhakkar on July 15, in Gujranwala on August 1, and in Mandi Bahauddin on August 15.
