QUETTA, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza has said that over the next few days we will gradually allow Pakistani Zaireens (pilgrims) returning from Iran in batches after their full health screening.

In a twitter message on Friday, Dr Zafar Mirza said that he visited the Taftan-Zahdan border and reviewed the situation. He said that the point of entry is being strengthened.

Following the confirmation of two Coronavirus Cases in Pakistan as two nationals having returned from Iran days before were diagnosed with the virus, Pakistan closed its border with Iran in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in the neighboring Country, leaving a number of Pakistani pilgrims stranded in Iran.

The Quetta-Taftan Railway Track was also shut down; though as per the Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui, no decision had so far been taken with regard to suspension of flight operations between Pakistan and Iran.

The Coronavirus outbreak in Iran has so far taken 26 lives, the highest after China wherein 2,788 people have succumbed to the virus.

The former Iranian Ambassador to Vatican Hadi Khosrowshahi has also died of the deadly virus.

Besides, the Head of the Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Mujtaba ZulNour and the Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar are also among 245 persons infected with the Coronavirus in Iran.
