ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has entered a partnership with Ali Medical Centre (AMC) in order to accelerate the provision of Cochlear Implants to deaf & mute children.

The Managing Director PBM Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chairman AMC Dr. Ali Raza Alvi in a ceremony held here in the head office of PBM.

The CEO AMC Dr. Hassaan Khan, the Director Medical PBM Dr. Javed Iqbal, the Director Admin PBM, Dr. Zafar Khan Safdar and Director PBM Azhar Afzal also attended the ceremony.

Under the MoU, AMC will entertain 30 surgeries for Cochlear Implants every month free of cost. Presently, there are more than 2300 children registered with PBM for having the Cochlear Implants and so far, 193 mute & deaf children have been provided Cochlear Implants with the share of Rupees One Million by PBM, for each child.

Moreover, AMC will also offer post-surgery rehabilitative measures like speech therapy for three years.

While addressing the ceremony, Malik Zaheer Abbas said that PBM is promoting public-private partnerships in order to speed up humanitarian activities throughout the country.

“Under the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas programme, Cochlear Implants are being provided to deaf & mute children leading them towards happy and sovereign life ahead”, he added.

While extending his gratitude to Chairman Ali Medical Centre for the collaborative efforts in such a noble cause, he termed this connection a glimmer of hope for the children and their parents who are enrolled with PBM and waiting for this expensive life-changing device.

The Managing Director further emphasized the contribution of philanthropists and other donor agencies so as to provide this costly device to the deserving children before reaching the age of 5 years.

The Chairman AMC Dr. Ali Raza Alvi admired the PBM’s initiative for spreading smiles on the faces of mute & deaf children and their parents who can’t afford the costly Cochlear Implants for their children.

Dr. Ali Raza Alvi also expressed his satisfaction for joining PBM and vowed to extend this partnership to the other deserving patients as well.

Punjab Highway Patrol releases annual performance report for 2024 Lahore, Pakistan: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has released annual performance report for 2024 that shows promising working under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar. According to details, in the year 2024, PHP checked 31.4 million people on the highways across Punjab through e-Police Post App and arrested 6,537 proclaimed offenders/judicial fugitives. Punjab Highway Patrol checked 18.8 million vehicles with the help of modern technology and also recovered 3,350 stolen vehicles/motorcycles. Legal action was taken against 869,000 overloaded vehicles for axle load violation. Legal action was taken against more than 12,000 vehicles across Punjab for illegal use of gas cylinders. In view of the convenience of the citizens, last year, PHP issued 148,000 driving licenses - 678 missing children were reunited with their parents. 5,005 temporary and permanent encroachments were removed and traffic flow was improved. More than 112,000 passengers facing difficulties on the roads across Punjab were provided with various types of assistance and guidance. 119,000 citizens were provided with various types of assistance and guidance at Police Khidmat Markazes. 1,093 cases were registered for the use of illegal weapons. 20,925 liters of alcohol, 400 kilograms of hashish, 53 kilograms of opium and 5.5 kilograms of heroin were recovered from drug peddlers.
