LAHORE, Pakistan: More than 2.3 million people have availed the facility of free health treatment under the Sehat Sahulat Program in Punjab, according to the statistics issued by the Provincial Health Department.

The Health Department said that the provision of free healthcare facilities costed over Rs 50.73 billion.

It told that a total of 794 hospitals including 189 government and 605 private ones have been empaneled in Punjab to provide free medical treatment to the people.

The data further revealed that in Punjab, more than 4,89,000 patients have undergone free dialysis through the Health Card Scheme while more than 51,000 people obtained the free coronary angiography facility.

Furthermore, more than 44,000 women underwent normal delivery and 1,87,000 cesareans were performed under the Scheme.

Likewise, 32,655 people received free chemotherapy facility in Punjab through the Sehat Sahulat Card.
