KARACHI: Oral cancer is the second biggest kind of cancer that is prevailing in Pakistan yet it is controllable by preventive measures, an expert said.
Dr. Maria Khadija of Fatima Jinnah Dental College said that about 90 percent of oral diseases are preventable. However, she said, only 20 per cent of the population has access to treatment of oral health.
The expert said that most diseases start from mouth including diabetes.
Dr. Maria requested teachers to control and impose a ban on the sale of chhalia and gutka that on school premises. She also said that information related to oral diseases should be included in school textbooks.
