ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The first ever heart transplant in Pakistan will be carried out in Rawalpindi Institute of cardiology (RIC) from April 2016 and it would be performed by world renowned Cardiologist and heart transplantation expert from London Dr Hasnat Khan who would come to Pakistan at the end of March 2016 to operate in the hospital.

While delivering a lecture on Cardiovascular Disease and Preventive Measure and Signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Ceremony held in National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad on Tuesday, the Executive Director RIC Prof Dr Azhar Mahmood Kayani announced the RIC will provide free treatment and investigation for the members of NPC and their families related to heart and other cardiovascular disease in his hospital.

“We would carries heart transplant in Pakistan in minimal charges, only on Rs. 800,000 as compared to this in foreign countries including United Kingdom, charged Rs 15 million on same transplant process, said Dr. Kiyani.

The Executive Director RIC said that life savings drugs and other essential medicine was short in market because of some people who want to earn profit on it. He asked the authorities to control these people and ensure the supply of these medicines in market.

Dr. Kiayani stressed the need to adopt the simplicity in all aspect of life and balance diet would be best way to escape from cardiovascular disease. He suggested preemptive measure to avoid over eating, smoking and adopt the proper diet pattern according to the principle of health.

He added that the cardiovascular diseases are considers highly preventable and controllable through healthy life style and avoid any risk factor.

He said that RIC will fully cooperate and coordinate with National Press Club to organized seminar and awareness campaign to create awareness in people against the heart disease. He said that RIC is fully committed to provide necessary health facilities to journalist and their families and any other cooperation in this regard.

The Executive Director RIC said that “We need to develop more model lice his institute to provide easy treatment on reasonable expense.”

While addressing on the occasion, the President NPC Shakeel Anjum said that National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad and RIC will enhance mutual cooperation for welfare of Journalist community in future.

He welcomed the MoU signed between the both institutions and expressed hope for better working relations and coordinated efforts for the welfare of Journalist.

On the occasion, the Secretary NPC Chaudhry Imran Dhilun welcomed the RIC cooperation and urged more efforts for the welfare and further health facilities to the journalists.
