Monitoring Desk: WHO calls Coronavirus COVID19 outbreak pandemic as virus spreads increasingly worldwide. With the growing number of Coronavirus-affected patients around the globe which now stands at 121,312 and 4,379 people having already succumbed to it, the epidemic hasn’t yet shown any sign of being subsided in the near future.

 

China though yet remains the most affected Country with 80,788 cases and 3,158 deaths, Italy and Iran are also slipping into the deep trouble with a brisk pace as the Coronavirus death tally in both these Countries has reached 631 and 354 respectively.

The deteriorated situation forced Italy to announce a €25 billion package to deal with the virus while as per the German Chancellor Angela Merkel who was addressing the Parliament on Tuesday, 60% to 70% of the Country’s population could become infected by the Novel Coronavirus.

In recent hours, 958 new cases emerged in Iran, taking the total number of infected people to 9,000, the third-highest after China and Italy. Spain also witnessed 420 new Coronavirus cases while South Korea 242 and Switzerland 154.

Among other recent major developments in terms of Coronavirus outbreak, the British Health Minister and Conservative Lawmaker Nadine Dorries was diagnosed with the virus, the Ukrainian Capital Kiev announced to close Universities and Schools while Poland has already shut all Schools, Museums, and Cinemas over Coronavirus concerns.

In Pakistan, the number of Coronavirus cases has now climbed to 19 while according to the Prime Minister Special Assistant on Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza, all the infected persons recently arrived in the Country from abroad.

His Royal Highnes conveyed his heartfelt acknowledgement to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for the participation of Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising JF-17 Block-III fighter jets alongside air and ground crew in the Bahrain International Airshow. Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
