ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: After striking the adjacent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as an outbreak, dengue epidemic has now begun to surface in the Federal Capital wherein the virus has been confirmed in 36 patients.

As per a report published by Daily Nai Baat on Tuesday, there has been a constant increase in dengue patients in Islamabad while the number of patients diagnosed with dengue virus has reached 36.

So far 25 patients including five from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after dengue virus was found in them. Likewise, 11 patients suffering from dengue virus have been admitted to Polyclinic Hospital.

The Spokesman of PIMS Dr Wasim Khawaja told that following being given treatment, nine of 25 patients have been discharged whereas others are admitted to the Isolation Ward at the hospital.

The Assistant Executive Director (AED) at Polyclinic Hospital Dr Abdul Wali Khan told that 11 dengue patients were brought to the hospital, of whom five were admitted, two were discharged whereas four were tested negative for dengue.

Dr Abdul Wali Khan further told that the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Secretary Nargis Ghaloo and the Executive Director Polyclinic Dr. Zahid Larik are taking keen interest in the treatment of dengue patients, and summon report in this regard on daily basis.
