ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday appointed his five new special assistants.

The special assistants include Barrister Zafarullah, Miftah Ismail, Dr Asif Kirmani, Dr Musadik Malik and Khawaja Zaheer Ahmad. Their portfolios would be announced later.

The prime minister now has a 54-member team to help in day to day tasks of running the federal government.

It comprises 28 federal ministers including Sartaj Aziz as the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission with status of federal minister, 16 ministers of state, five advisers and an equal number of special assistants.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the Prime Minister and the President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Amir Muqam held a meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the PM House in Islamabad.

Matters pertaining to party affairs and development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were discussed at length in the meeting.

The prime minister appreciated Amir Muqam’s role for the party and the government.

Separately, the Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Muhammad Barjees Tahir also met the prime minister and briefed him on matters pertaining to the ministry and provided an overview of the development outlay for Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan.
