ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended warm felicitations to the Turkish leadership and people on the 97th Republic Day of Turkey being observed on Thursday.
In a statement on Twitter, the prime minister said that our forefathers stood by the Turkish people in their glorious struggle against the forces of imperialism.
“In contemporary times, our two countries remain indispensable partners. Long live Pakistan-Turkey brotherhood!,” the prime minister said.
Separately, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also congratulated the government and people of Turkey on the auspicious occasion of their 97th Republic Day.
“The historic brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey is without parallel, standing shoulder to shoulder in support now and in future,” the foreign minister said.
Millions of Turks across the Country and abroad are celebrating the 97th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on Thursday.
The Republic’s founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on October 29, 1923 officially declared the name of the nation and proclaimed the Country’s status as a Republic.
Since then, Turkey celebrates the Republic Day every year on October 29.
